    Prayers needed! Added by 1admin

My wife and I are experiencing serious problems with a pregnancy which has resulted in bed rest for her and double OT for me to make up the lost income.

I do not make it a habit to leach off others and not contribute.

I am almost done with two articles and hope to post them both soon.

In addition, I plan on writing a review of a few schools I've been too and would recommend.

    Again, I apologize for leaching/lurking.

    Thanks,

    Splat

    No problem whatsoever.

We'll say a prayer for your wife, may want to post about it in the Prayer Room.

Looking forward to the school review and articles. Thanks

I find this very troubling. Never seen a discussion forum with an anti-lurking policy. As a libertarian, I find it a turn off. Maybe I was wrong to sign up on this forum?
Not to mention that less lurking means less site visits, which means less traffic, which means less future ad revenue. This doesn't make sense for a lot of reasons ...

I do not think "ad revenue" is the main purpose of this forum californiapatriot...

Hope the forum helps you prep and stay safe my fellow American.

I aint running nothing here but my head CP but lurkers are welcome but they wont be able to see everything and wont have Pm privledges etc. Your not wrong for being here, you gotta alot to offer brother, slow ur roll. Splat23 was just airing some issues and letting us know he was going thru a rough time and would jump on the stage and take the mike as soon as he could. Heck i lurked for a bit before getting onboard. No one ever got upset with me.

Their is no "anti lurking" policy here, that's stupid point blank.

If we wanted to keep "lurkers" out all together we would simply make the board wherein if you were not registered you could not view ANYTHING and then if they did register have a regular "prune" of members that did not have a post count. Others have commented about being tossed off MANY other forums because of not posting.

I read this thread this morning and at first wondered what prompted it. But it seems to be more of an airing of what's going on in the man's life. His wife needs our prayers more than we need to waste our time spouting off crap that's incorrect. Sorry to come off rude but "I find it a turn off" when people throw out stuff like what you did without having a clue about the situation.

NO ONE has been banned or tossed off for not posting. Their is NO "anti-lurking policy" here as I made crystal clear above.

However we do NOT and will not promote the "welfare mentality." That is the "you owes me" free everything. If people can't register and make 10 posts, they won't be able to view the registered members subforum wherein more discussions and information is shared and they won't have access to the free training videos, etc. Still "free" but just requires people to (kinda) be a functional member of this forum, not just someone who leeches all the free info they can get without ever giving anything back.

It's that "de owes me" and "It's all about ME" attitude that has @#$$ed our country. It's not gonna be promoted any place that I pay the bills for.

                  what do find troubling?
His personal issues with his wifes health? ....
                  or
                  your self perceived ones?
As already posted there is NO anti lurking law/rule/policy etc .

But im sure you already knew that.;)

I'm the one who implemented the 10 post minimum for the registered members forum. The point of a 10 post minimum is to encourage participation. Look at the statistics for your average thread on an average BB on the internet. There will be 30 posts and 150+ views. I have a thread going on another forum that has just 3 posts and 100 + views. Participation results in the exchange of ideas and questions being asked , which is what we want here. That is the board culture we are trying to encourage here. I don't care if you just started prepping and haven't even packed your 1st bucket yet but if you have figured out the magic formula for getting the pickle smell out of a bucket....POST IT. Don't be afraid to post because 8 or 10 very experienced preppers are having a lively discussion about the pros and cons of super food saver x vs mylar if you have a question or a comment post it.

btw I posted the same video I posted on that other forum here. That forum is gigantic compared to ours yet we have an actual discussion going on! and thats what we are trying to achieve here.

I work in computers and the devil is the details with that line of work. Elittle posted a review of his Katadyn Mini filter a few weeks ago. I bought one too and couldn't figure out how i was gonna get the float on with out tearing it up. I was thinking i could use a zip tie. Then i see elittle's review and he cut a slit in his float. voila problem solved!

We are trying to encourage participation because participation means ideas and information get exchanged.

I am sorry to hear about the difficult pregnancy. As Mustang Gal said, bedrest is not fun. I too have been there. I will be praying for you, your wife and little one.
                      "Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
