Where to donate this year has been difficult for me. I'm struggling to select one from many I'm interested in helping. Last year I donated to Samaritan's Purse, where the fruits of their ministry are easy to see. This year I still need to make a decision...

great comment. sw.
a lot of tv preachers recommend a certain org that assists Israel folks. i called them. openly but with a little prodding state that they keep 24%
the u.s. fund raising arm --american friends of magen david adom keeps 10%
another group FIRM - (fellowship of israel related ministires i think has one arm that keeps s10% and another that allows money to flow straight through to various different groups
a local church where we have connecions -- about 90% of all money goes to the building expenses and 3 ministers.
compared to another church where we have connections. spends 500 per month on speakers
sadly, i have been very negligent in checking out this stuff on a local level. wasted a lot of time and $ in the wrong places.

When selecting a charity for donating purposes, it's good to consider what percentage of donations actually reach the intended people. So many charities have huge overhead and use a large percentage of donations to cover administrative expenses. Do your research before donating.

i think there is an old post about pre born. folks that help ladies decide to keep their babies... i couldn't find post, but i'm betting they'll put our small $$ to good use.

i'm inclined to help israel. have used samaritans purse for that purpose previously. recent ads ask for help because they want to assist the folks in gaza. hmm. i'm not sure i want my $$ landing in gaza. ... so i've learned that magen david adom is the emergency services org in israel... so another possiblility.
a local group that is helping youth.
