  • Kill switches in electro optic devices, what are good nv devices without wifi?

I typed out a page of data and it just wiped itself out. 45 minutes of typing and "Undo" won't bring it back. It was a long post about how corrupt blue commie DNC states use access to Fusion centers to protect corruption, including pedophile and narco rings run by the police departments and local feds that only got busted by Trump's DOJ, (Honolulu Police - Kealoha trial) then covered up again as soon as the new regime took over. Crazy talk by a crazy person, of course.

Point being, there are "Kill switches" in chips and motherboards that allow access to electronics. I have been working around them since 2010. Anything with wifi cannot be secure. It can be hacked. I found out the hard way as a witness against state corruption. Smartphones would shut down in certain areas and in encounters with police doing illegal things on a predictable basis, data would be destroyed like evidentiary videos and legal documents. I learned to hack smartphones along with IT infosec basics and mitigated some of that and learned the basics on how these things are done. (Look up "Stingrays" and "DRT boxes", there are newer things out there these days and bad people with money have them despite the "FCC", "ITAR" or any other imagined restrictions)

Anything with a wifi antenna can be hacked or has backdoors for easy access, from smartphones to your TV, refrigerator, or even your fancy electro-optical device.

What are good NV devices without wifi? Consider getting some if you know of any, even if they are old.

I'm guessing you meant thermal? I don't know of any analog NV device that utilizes Wifi at all.

Maybe the DIGITAL Sionyx camera NV like device uses wifi, but I honestly don't know. I avoid DIGITAL night vision like the plague.

    Thermals-

SOME , not all, thermals are equipped with all the whiz bang crap where we have been sold on CONVENIENCE over safety.

I remember reading some post recently where a hunter was lamenting his choice of thermals and basically complained something to the effect of "My buddy's unit (with wifi) he is able to instantly stream videos of his hunts. When I take videos of a hunt I have to go home, hook the thermal up to my computer via a cord and download the video to my computer and then load it to the net..."

My first thought reading that was - WAAAAAAHHHHHHH LOL

Seriously though, they market the wifi and streaming stuff as "convenience" and anyone who has been paying attention the last 20 years knows, we have all practically sold our souls for "convenience." (Smart phones, smart TV's, etc)

So yes you can find thermals without wifi and that's the type I seek out for myself.

Several years ago, I read a book (prepper-porn) that starts out with the premise of microchips made by China or Japan (forgot which) were turned off via a satellite signal, crippling the world. Possible today? Does anyone remember that book?

There was a similar straight to DVD movie "Dragon Day", I think I posted a review of it years ago. Similar premise.

I found the book on my e-reader. Invasion USA, Book One, The End of Modern Civilization by William Johnstone. A Chinese company had worked for 30-years to take over the microchip market…successfully. With signals from a satellite, all the chips in cars, military equipment, including satellites, and modern conveniences would cease to work. The only mechanized equipment that worked was old cars, farm equipment, and aircraft that were made before the early 1980’s. It’s an OK book that spends too much ink on the collection of old aircraft that the heroes flew around.

Never read that one, although I did read a lot of what Johnstone wrote.

              Is Johnstone still alive?

Saw him at a SOF convention in Vegas in the 90's and he wasn't a spring chicken then...

No, he died of cancer, which he had when I hung out there. It's been 18 years since he passed.

Sounds like he predicted the F-35 using CCP made chips. Runner up: USN vessels using CCP made electronics and Windows XP. I think the last report of XP on a vessel was 2009.
