During times when certain items are backed up, hard to get, etc. we prefer NOT to receive paypal payments for those items. This includes long term storage food.
Why?
Simply put- when you choose Paypal as the payment option on your order and use paypal, you are immediately out the funds. When you use a standard Visa/Mastercard or Discover payment option, you are not charged until the order is ready to ship.
So..... IF food for example takes a week or two for fresh from the factory food, when you choose to use paypal for payment, you are out the money immediately and still have the wait for the food. If that same order was put in with a standard Visa/Mastercard or Discover, you are not charged until the factory says "Joe Smith's order is ready to ship."
This is for YOUR convenience that you are not out a penny before your order ships.
The OTHER reason we don't like paypal is that 50% of the time people do not actually COMPLETE the paypal payment process. Paypal seems to "time out" people when they do not finish the transaction immediately.
So.... Joe Smith puts some items in his shopping cart, hits place order, chooses Paypal as the payment method. The system takes him to Paypal, he has to log into paypal and complete the process at Paypal. No if Joe walks away, gets a phone call, etc. and does not complete the Paypal payment process, he did not actually PAY for his order. The problem is the server/shopping cart sends him an "order confirmation" notice. Now if Joe isn't paying much attention he might forget that he did not actually PAY for the order.
Or... Joe might think he's a slickster and we are idiots and that him having an "order confirmation" yet not having put out a dime for the order, entitles him to getting a free order. Ain't the case and although I was born at night, I definitely was not born LAST NIGHT ;) Let's just say after 20 years in business you tend to figure out all the scams people try to use on you. :)
99% of the time it's the former instead of the latter.
We cannot ship an order until it's paid for. Their is more control over when an order is charged when it is NOT a paypal order. This means if an item is backed up, we can wait to charge you for the item when it's ready to ship.
We have at times past when specific items were hard to find denied paypal orders for those items. We reserve that right. Also, understand that using Paypal does not "put you ahead" of others that have ordered before you.
We take paypal because a lot of people use paypal and some customers find it more convenient.
