  • X50 Thermal Eye VIDEO

I wasn't able to mate my old camera and the viewer together very well. The image quality in the viewer is much higher than what you see on the video.

All in all, a very nice unit for the price. The more we have tested them, the more I like them.

    Available from the site sponsor-

    Lowdown,
I know that night vision intensifier tubes have a life span. I think I've read that gen 1 has about 2000 hours and gen 3 has 10,000+ hours. Does the thermal devices have a similar "life span" part as well, or are they like cameras/electronics where they may be outdated in 5 years, but as long as they're taken care of they still work?

Actually the lifespan you quoted for "gen 3" is what I've always heard for 2nd gen.

Gen 3 Pinnacle Autogated is rated for much longer hours of regular use. Most of us will never "use them up"- our grandkids would be lucky to.

My bad I meant gen 2, and 40,000 hours for gen 3....but could be wrong there as well.

On the 2nd part of the question re: thermal life. I asked the manufacturer and this was the response-

No life span for thermal, just circuit boards and sensors.

I figured that was it, like cameras and computers.
