Hello, I am a 16 year old male Libertarian who is stuck living with his 69 year old grandma who has her head in the sand, and great-grandma who is 91. I'm trying to convince my grandma about prepping...she doesn't listen. Any ideas on how to convince her, before the approaching collapse, that we need to start preparing, and we need to do it NOW. Also any ideas on how to do it cheaply since money's pretty tight.

Welcome to S & P. Lots of good info and good people here. When the 3 of you are together ask your great-grandma questions about the great depression. How tough it was to find work and pay for food etc. My grandfather is the same age as your great grandma and he told me stories of eating blackbird pie, raccoon, opossum etc. Ask her about the people down in New Orleans and how long it took for relief supplies to get down there and also mention the current/past riots this year in France and Greece. This may not convince her. You can also try having her watch the "After Armageddon" series from the History channel, parts of it can be found on youtube another member recently posted about their brother starting to see the light and they watched those videos on Youtube.
As far as the $$ side, you can buy a 6 gallon water container from kmart for $8.29 (do a search for a post about water storage here). Look for sales on canned goods to get some extra food stocked away, may put it in your closet. Don't wait for her to come on board, do it anyways and she'll be glad you did. Read read read and ask questions. Clean some gutters and rake some leaves for some extra $$ so that you can get more supplies. If you want the extra money bad enough you will think of something to do that someone is willing to pay you.
