Hi. I have not been on this site very much in a while. I am from central Texas. I am interested in lots of things. Hunt, fish, archery, survival, cooking, knives, bowmaking, flintknapping, family, politics...... The Coyote Cuffer handle points to my interest in trapping. I trap predators and just about anything else. See you around. CC

I learned to trap on my uncle's farm in NE Oklahoma. The #1 thing I learned was that it is darned near impossible to keep skunks and dogs out of traps meant for coyotes. The best advice I can give you is warn your neighbors that you are putting out traps for coyotes so they may want to keep their dogs off of your property to keep their dogs from losing a leg or its life.Originally posted by Benn Gleck View PostWelcome from Ohio!
I'd be interested to hear more about coyote trapping. Specifically how to keep from catching the neighbors dogs.
We have tons of coyotes."One cannot but ponder the question: what if the Arabs had been Christians? To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly what he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing. Here, I think, is a text for some eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity." - General George S. Patton, diary, June 9, 1943.

Thanks for the post Tackleberry, I've seen dog proof coyote traps advertised but seeing as they are both canines I can't see how that would work. Kinda like fireproof firewood!?!?Originally posted by Tackleberry View PostI learned to trap on my uncle's farm in NE Oklahoma. Who knows, it may be a union coyote trap or a government coyote trap is which case it's guaranteed not to work on dogs, coyotes, or skunks.Originally posted by Benn Gleck View PostThanks for the post Tackleberry, I've seen dog proof coyote traps advertised but seeing as they are both canines I can't see how that would work.
