  • Greetings from CO

Greetings and blessing to everyone on the forum, and a big thank you to the people who put it together and continue to support and maintain it.

Residing outside Boulder, CO for the next month. Movin up to 10,100 ft with my girlfriend and redbone coonhound for the winter. North of Leadville CO; should be an adventure for sure.

Currently my main areas of interest are:

Getting off the grid, and FINDING A PLACE TO DO IT! can you guess what the hold up is? ;) Becoming self-sufficient or more accurately becoming part of or helping create or foster a community which is self sufficient. The people around me currently on board are: girlfriend, dog, brothers, sister, mom and step dad, and a few very close friends.

feeding my family in the healthiest way possible. During our time in cities we practice a vegan diet; with the full knowledge and expectations to be including wild game in the very near future i.e. fish, elk, venison, bison, turkey, etc. We're rounding out our first summer garden this year (all Organic) which has been the single most rewarding experience in my life. I come from a family of farmer/hunters and their knowledge and tips allowed us great success on our first attempts at what should be a basic human skill.

Defense. Lucky enough to come from a line of hunters, and a close Uncle who just retired as a 2 star General in the US ARMY.

Researching the mysteries of the Earth and Humanity and History, and not just HIS-STORY, but the truth. The history of religions, myths, traditions and culture. And the works of His Imperial Majesty - Qedamawi Haile Selassie I ; ABBA Qeddus ; 118 years old. check Genisis 6:3.

Thanks again for the chance to learn. Looking forward to contributing all that i have to share, and learing all the times inbetween.

i guess i was getting at my suspicion that what i was force fed during my many years of compulsory schooling was not exactly accurate. And that maybe it was more of a "story", crafted to create a certain mindset. Or a lack of mind-set.

Besides a few nice moments at Georgia State Univ. I consider my education to have started after leaving institutionalized "education". An autodidact if you will, concerning matters of survival. Maybe I'm a little sour that in 13 years of "lower schooling" little things like making fire, growing food, or cleaning a fish to eat, didnt make it onto the required curriculum. Hope I'm not coming off as overly negative, but this is our lives we're talking about.

        Blessings.

Welcome. I used to live in Denver (around 72nd and Pecos). Did a few jobs in Boulder, windows/siding. Loved it out there. I am a bit envious of the lack of humidity that you have. Oh well. Enjoy the site.
