  • Midwestern Farmer's Daughter

    Hey there,
Well I'm figuring out quickly that I'm late to the party. I spent years trying to get my ex on board with this mentality, and failed to do so. But now that my ducks are in a row, I can get my stuff together. So as to take care of my itty bitties. I look forward to chatting with everyone.

Do a quick search before asking your question, we have talked about a lot of things so it might be covered.

Include meta tags on threads you start so that they will be easier to search for.

Look on youtube for videos made by PAW Productions - delta69alpha and also Survival Report.

Welcome from West Georgia. Glad that you are getting up to speed.

There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called yesterday and the other is called tomorrow, so today is the right day to love, believe, do and mostly live. .....and to prepare.

It may seem too late to you but in reality you are going to be okay. Main thing is don't let the task overwhelm you. Take it in bite size pieces. Prepare for one week. You can do it. When you break up the task you have mini goals that make it possible. Get ready for a week and then move on to a month and so on. Look at the things you need and prioritize what you can really afford. You don't need a $300 survival knife as an example. Some people think everything good has to cost a fortune. From what I gather you have kids. Focus on what they need. We all prepare for our families. Most of all find others in your same situation and use them as a support group here. Keep your personal information low key. Most of all I wish you the very best and welcome to the forums. GB

Thanks for the warm welcome. I do look forward to sharing my trials and tribulations with everyone.

Grinnan Barrett - Yes, I do have some cubs at home. They are my first priority. I'm looking at the one week at a time plan, trying to see what I need now and for the next week. Working on setting up the garden and accumulating as much knowledge as possible.

Don't forget that being prepared applies to daily life. Every day people get caught unprepared simply because they don't stop to think: "what is likely to go wrong in the near future, and how can I mitigate that risk?"

The most basic things to prepare for are things you have probably already encountered, and I'll make you a quick list.

                  - Financial emergencies
                  - Inclement weather
                  - Car trouble
                  - Getting lost
                  - Crime

This is just a quick list to get you started. Preparing for simple things like these is easy and can have a very beneficial impact on your life in general. Enjoy.
