  • Hello from Okinawa

Odd place for a new member for you guys I'm sure.

I'm Air Force and have been on Okinawa sin 06. I've been getting into preparedness for a few years but about all I can do over here is read and learn. I get to come back to the states in a year or so and am hoping to be stationed someplace where there are houses with decent plots of land so I can have a place of my own.

I'm a city boy, born and raised in the Bay Area of California. I am into firearms and want to learn how to farm a bit and grow my own food plus learn as much as I can here.

    Thanks,
    Crash.

Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

Hey Crashl! Welcome aboard! I spent a couple of years there on "The Rock." There were all kinds of skills to learn when I was there in the early '60's. I played around with photography, scuba diving, karate, etc., while there. I also took some various college courses that transferred when I went to school full time years later.

Know you will be glad to get back to "The World." Again, welcome!

Hey all, thanks for the welcome! I am a SCUBA dive master thanks to this beautiful island, I really want to explore the jungles here but need to find a safe area to do so, since winter is here I don't have to worry about poisonous Habu snakes to much.
I have been lucky here, I've made many friends from different branches and got one on one teaching from weapons Sergeants with the M9' M4 and surprisingly an MP5 that was made in west Germany!

The island is great but I miss the States, I can't wait to have my guns and be able to teach my son how to shoot, hunt and fish.

Welcome, Crash...spent some time aboard Camp Kinser ...gads, has it been that long....28 years ago. Back then, you could go around and see all but one of the WWII air fields, but the cave "hangars" were fenced off.

There are still four or five of them on Kadena viewable from the main road. I have visited the Peace Prayer Park a few times, one of the slabs has a family name on it but my Grandfather doesn't know if there is a relation or not.
One new historical site that was "lost" until about 8 years ago is the sunken USS EMMONS, which is a moving dive to make.

Thankyou, and again thank you for serving as well. The main reason I joined was to repay the debt I owe you and all who served before me.
