  • New Prepper

    Hey guys,

I'm a 17 year old prepper from Melbourne, Australia (I know I spelled it wrong, if anyone knows how I can change my name that would be great)

Anyway, I've only been prepping for about 8 months now and I desperately need some advice on where to go from here. I've stored up about 5 months of food for myself and my family.

Basically I need some pointers on where to go next. How much food should I have, security, weapons etc.

I have a bug out location but I would not be bugging out unless I absolutely had to.

To give you a better idea of my setup I made a youtube channel for people to give me tips, comments etc. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/MelbournePrepper95/feed

Any advice at all would be much appreciated, thank you.

Start small and work your way up, dont panic and try for too much too fast and put yourself in a bind. You start with all those things and more on your list, well where you are. Make a goal list of reasonable expectations then try and work towards it based on the time you have. There is no cookie cutter answer to your question because there are too many variables such as # of people, diets, workload, skills, etc. It is based on your needs, not mine and your wants.
Work on the basic needs, food, water, shelter, protection, medical and dont forget skills

On your channel be very very careful how much information you give up

welcome to the site. like matt said becareful on how much info you give out. keep big stuff to your self. you dont need to show all the cards at once. ask people for advice or tips with out saying this is what i have and why i have it.
Whats the point of having and not knowing how to use? You dont have a car and not know how to drive it do you? Having the tools for the job is worthless with out the knowledge of how to use it!

        Hi Matt,

Thank you so much for responding. I try to take it slow, don't want to scare my family. Unfortunately they don't share my views so it makes it all the harder. Good point, everyone is different so you have to customize it to you're situation. I'm careful about what I put up. I only reveal what state I'm in, nothing more. So it would be near impossible to track me down unless they tracked the IP address. Thanks again for responding. Stay Safe.

          Sharpshooter,

Thanks a lot for responding, you have a good point there. I have a lot of things I'll never show anybody and hopefully will never have to. Thanks again :)

like you said they dont see it in your prespective, try to keep it small simple and fun. if you can make it fun in some of the basic stuff like fire starting or shelter building you will have better results in the long run. just like starting out shooting guns as a kid or adult you dont get a 50 cal sniper rifle you get 22. or 410ga something small and easy to make fun with

Yeah, it's difficult because I live with my grandparents who are both in their 80's so in a WROL situation it would be my sole responsibility to protect them. Not that I wouldn't if they were younger of course but you can see how it complicates things. Starting out small is always the best way to begin anything. You build up bit by bit and before long you will be surprised at what you have accomplished.

one of the biggest tips is to stock up on everyday things and even things that your grandprents use ex. if they use say dental cream by 2 extra tubes next time its time to buy some. if you need can corn or rice buy and extra one and pput the extra one back.
