  • Howdy from Arkansas

Howdy Y'all, I'm a little embarrassed to admit but I've been a member of this site for almost six months and have yet to introduce myself so I thought it was time. I am somewhat new to the preparedness game but have learned allot and hope to keep learning from you all. This forum is packed full of useful information and great people and i hope to get a chance to trade info with some of you.

I joined this site last August and decide I wanted to make sure my interest wasn't a fleeting curiosity and was truly a desire to learn and after six months of coming back week after week (usually every other day) and the amount of time and money I have invested in getting prepared I now realize that it has become a lifestyle and not a hobby and feel it is time to come out of the shadows so to speak and get to know a few of you.

So a few things about me: I'm From Central Arkansas (Born and Raised) and I'm 25 and am a volunteer firefighter and am currently in school at a CDL Driving academy (anybody with tips or tricks about being prepped while driving a truck I'd be glad to hear them lol). Well in the words of the Immortal Forest Gump "That's all I have to say about that". anyhting else you want to know, your gonna have to ask.
Glad to be here and a pleasure to meet you.

Welcome to the forums and thanks for coming out of the shadows :) Wish more would. It's amazing to see how many posters with zero or one post most forums have.

      Welcome from Oklahoma.
Truck Driving can be a challenge for a survivor. Did some for a while. The main thing is fitness, I dont care how tired you are if you aint doing laps around that rig or the lot before/after you hit the sleeper ya aint doing yourself no favors, pushups, sittups, dumbells take little space.
The bag, gotta have it if you are gonna get back home, it aint no different from anyone elses GMHB bag except it may be lighter on arnament. You have to get creative there.
Make sure you have food (ready to eat kind), water and meds, aint nothing worse than being snowed in and sitting without it and you never know where they will send you so "be prepared" for all environments including clothing. The space has to be used wisely on this because them cabs are small as is. A lockable tote on the back deck can answer some of this too.
Make sure your skills are up because you have farther than anyone to go and ya cant carry enough food to go across 4 states. Network with LMI folks when you can in case a feller needs to stop along the travel back home or cache some stuff.
Mental health preps, watch the radio traffic it can depress you, seems more so everyday, dont let it drag you into the abiss of misery, stay positive, you will see what i'm saying once your out there on this, just look at those around you, miserable lot usually. make sure you enjoy the time at home if you have anyone there and get out and enjoy them beautiful ozarks and get some air when you can
well thats enough of my rambling, welcome again

Welcome to S & P we are glad you are here. Lots of good people and info here. Do a quick search before asking your question, we have talked about a lot of things so it might be covered. Check out the blog articles there is some good info there. Lastly share your experience with the rest of us. Look on youtube for videos made by PAW Productions - delta69alpha and also survival report.

As far as a being a truck driver prepper it depends on whether you are an OTR or Local driver. Even if you are OTR you might be able to get a set route which would allow you to cache supplies along your route. Depending on your local route you might also have to do cache's. Glad to have you come out of the shadows and into the light!!!
