New to actual prepping. Long time thinker about it -- my dad did some of it back in the 70's on the food storage front. Starting to get more serious as financial events have hit me hard enough personally in last few years to realize that anything really CAN happen.
My wife grew up in a South American country. She has NO difficulty imagining social upheaval, government becoming the enemy of the common man, etc. She's seen it.
