  • No more "benefit of the doubt" passes, sorry

Due to the continuing rash of spammers, johnny come lately preparedness companies and other dirtbags just looking for free advertising for their sites, we are NOT giving any more "benefit of the doubt" passes...

    What does that mean?

That means for a year and a half now, I opted for the "benefit of the doubt" that the people that came in and immediately put a link to their site in their sig line and/or immediately started posting about their company, blog, website, etc. were just retards that had missed the umpteen times we mentioned not to do that.

I PM'ed people, did visitor messages to them, even tried offering link exchanges to sites with 50 members trying to be cool about this etc. REMINDING them about the "no links in sig lines" "we don't provide free advertising to your site" things that already are mentioned several times in: the user agreement, the rules, the "read this first" post, etc.

A few notable scumbags like "Silas Longshot" even had the nerve to go that route AFTER asking and being told to "hang out for a while, be helpful to folks here WITHOUT pumping your blog, site, crappy book, whatever and then AFTER A TIME, I'll plug your stuff FOR YOU."

Basically dirtbags like that and more recently "readymom" are just looking for free publicity. Some like to conceal their true intentions that by saying they are here to share their "wealth" of knowledge... Sorry to be blunt but the fact that you've been preparing for a whooping 2 years does not impress me :rolleyes: And certainly you should not write a (crappy) book and/or act as an authority figure after such LITTLE TIME doing this. But hey, that sounds rude doesn't it? Wow Robert, you sound like a jerk. Well guess what, I stopped caring about that after 80 to 100 of these scumbags over the last year and a half.

Now, I don't care if your site is "non commercial" and if you think you are being completely altruistic by posting about it, you are no longer able to come here and just plug your site.

ANYONE who joins and plugs their own site or puts a link in their sig line without express (that means you PM ask and get an affirmative BEFORE doing it) is just going to be banned, period. We have ONE type of ban here- permanent. We do NOT do "time out" bans, all are permanent. Understand that.

I just do not have time to keep sending little "reminder notes" to new people that are rude and disrespecting jerks any more. . I'm done with that. Much like the POS "occupy" crowd, those that come looking for SOMETHING FOR NOTHING are not worth ANY effort on our parts.

Seriously people, this isn't hard.... if you join the forums, show respect and use tact, don't assume that you can run amok here or do whatever the hell you want to do- IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.

Join, be helpful, show a good attitude, stick around for a while, and I'll be GLAD to hook you up- their are dozens of people on the forums here that are allowed to push their blogs, books, sites, etc. because they proved helpful and stuck around. The scumbag spammers and those looking for free advertising did not, AND THEY ARE GONE NOW.

I remind you for A YEAR AND A HALF we've put up with this crap and I've had a lot of work cleaning up BS from scumdogs. I literally do not have time for any more "benefit of the doubt" passes. It's done.

If you have any questions about this, check the user agreement, the rules, the notes elsewhere about this or post them here.

I don't think anyone should have a problem with that action. We have to support those who make this place possible. Thanks again for all you do for those who really want to get prepared. GB

I can't imagine why it is so difficult for people to understand. It is like a someone you barely know coming to your house. Then, when you let them in, they head straight for the fridge and help themselves!!

I'm just here to get the information on your site. I really do not have any to give. I am very new to preparing. I would like to start raising tilapia since I live in a city and cannot have any kind of farm animals. I live in a desert so the only kind of food that I can grow would have to be in a green house. I was thinking of putting up a pond in a green house and have that water my few crops. Does any one know any thing about this type of sustainable living?

Everyone has something to give, some information to part with or knowledge learned that can help us all. I'm sure eventually you will see something you can comment on or "I've seen how to do this" information to pass on. Every new prepper can shed new light on potential problems that we all might face. And even a new set of eyes so to speak on what we are doing can help in the long run. Veteran preppers are not all knowing or can't learn new tricks. New preppers remind us all of where we started and help break us out of our self imposed "dogma" for lack of a better term and see things from a different point of view or a new way of doing things.

As for your other questions here, they would probably be better suited to the homestead and retreat section located here

Everything relating to Homesteading, retreat/BOL setup, organization, wells, firewood and fuels, generators, solar power, septic systems, old-time skills, etc.

I'll be willing to bet some of the folks on this board can be able to point you in the right direction concerning greenhouses and ponds.
