  • Hi from east TX

Newbie from NE actually.... less than 2 wks here in the Pineywoods region. We left all our "stuff" back in storage units so am rebuilding from scratch what we can, as we can. I haven't even read anything here, yet.. but have been "reprepping" in my head so long, it aches... so I figure reading/communicating with others (while hubby is at work) is better than worrying too much. LOL!

Thanks for the hellos! Been reading and learning a bit more than I thought I knew.. seems like there is always something NEW to learn... which is good because otherwise, I'd get bored.

Having an acreage and raising a few "critters", making soap, spinning wool, baking from hand ground wheat, etc, ad nauseum... all which I have done in NE (where all the supplies are at), is not going to get us by. Luckily, my dearest hubby is ex-mil and knows a few other skills... and is more than willing to teach me once we get logistics figured out. Right now we are renting a cabin on fairly public (privately owned) land that has a nice view but.... is drier than anything and so am looking at making a solar oven (no fires allowed in this part of the state at all) since we have no stove/oven in here (just a few small appliances). We are looking for a local gun range but with his hours (LONG... and almost 7days/wk) it would be hard to go very far. We can wait on that a bit longer I hope!

Once I get my bearings around here, I would like to contribute a few thoughts. But for now, I will simply keep quiet, learn and smile, nod and comment as I see fit.
