Hello. I'm a newbie from close to the D.C. area (currently). I have to say, this is the first I've found a forum like this, and it's amazing to realize that I'm not "alone."
I come from a long line of military, and spent my time in the Army myself. I love America. I do. But what has happened to this country is disgusting. This is no longer the America I joined the military to protect. I see the inevitable coming, and have spent the last few years learning all of the basics. How to make a generator and radio with scraps of wire, how to build stoves, distill water, build houses, garden, raise livestock, etc.
I don't believe it'll happen in my lifetime, not realistically. There's still entirely too many people (the majority) that are totally willing to suckle at the government teat before the money they keep taking from the hard working Americans runs out. But there's bound to be a major "something" to happen soon. At least by the time my grandchildren are my age.
If it does happen when I'm still young enough to make a difference, fantastic. If not, at least I can pass the knowledge that's being systematically removed from our collective libraries on to my children. Assuming Orwell's 1984 doesn't happen in full, which is a frighteningly realistic possibility.
