  • Looking forward to learning from all of you!

I started working on preparedness in September, 2008. Since that time I've learned I'm a bonafide tenderfoot in spite of my best attempts to toughen up. Forewarned is forearmed I guess. Though a long way to go, our family is building forward momentum. I'll be excited to learn and hope I'll have a few things to share as well.

    Welcome RDC...
It's funny, I think the further you get into prepping, the more you learn and the more you need. The first step is opening your eyes and it seems you have done that. Glad you are here and I look forward to your posts.

Thank you all for the welcome.

Sheepdog, you're right, once you swallow the red pill, your eyes open and a whole new, overwhelming universe is revealed that requires discipline most of us 21st century Americans have never known. Thanks for the encouragement.

BH, I still haven't warned my family--wondering if it is even wise to try? I figure they never listen to anything I say, so why let them know I'm prepping? When my fil prepped a little for Y2K, they snickered and rolled their eyes. But I do fear for them. As much as I would like to store food for all of them, it just isn't physically possible. I sure wish there was a way to wake them up.

RDC- I too had the problem of who to talk to and who not. Family included. For the most part my family has become aware, mainly because our Pastor has started to speak of it in church. For our own sakes I don't talk about this with anyone UNLESS God obviously lays it on my heart. Those times are rare indeed, but when they do happen I know there is a reason. Here is my favorite prayer when He goads me to speak: help me help me help me. Short, sweet and entirely desperate. Sigh. I know this isn't easy and if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. My thought is the less said the better unless asked.
