  • Greetings from Central Wisconsin.

    Hello everyone.
I am a mother of two young children living in the central part of Wisconsin just below the Northwoods. I am an online student, currently studying Psychology. I have a great interest in learning new things and finding relationships between things that do not seem connected.

In the last months, I have taken to watching documentaries of various subjects. I would continuously be left wondering why things in society do not seem as perfect as the culture, media, and leaders would have me believe. I finally found some documentaries that expose the missing link. Collapseand Blindspot, really address the same issues and showed the almost too obvious implications and revelations regarding peak oil concerns and overpopulation consequences.

I am not a person that is willing to fall victim to the actions of others. I know I cannot control the outcome of civilized life or society nor the collapse. I plan on doing whatever I can with the time and resources I have available to me. Not having a job, nor any prospects of a job in the area of, this proves difficult, but it could always be worse.

I understand some people might think I am a quack for having a "extreme" worldview like this, even boyfriend doubts my concerns as ligitimate. I was hoping to find others that share an alternative worldview, perspectives, solutions, preventative and protective measures for the ones dearest to us. Gaining an image of what life would look like if everything fell apart, is difficult. I think because it is so jarring and frightening. Everything we have learned our whole life, about society, individual roles, social identity would be irrelevant.

Welcome to the forum. All you can do is prepare as you see necessary, and try and get loved ones on-board as you continue.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have never participated in a forum before, but I like the attitudes I see on the boards. There is a lot of information, suggestions, and input. I am a vet so I went through BCT, but it seems like a long time ago. I consider myself a novice when it comes to the survival thing and feel a bit overwhelmed. Where is a good place to start?

Just start with the basics. Food, Water, Shelter. load up your pantry with what you already eat. buy cases of water or several gallon jugs of water. Fill a backpack with spare clothes for all the kids and yourself. get a tent large enough for all of you, but small enough to easily carry.
