  • Hello everybody from Catalonia

    Hello,

I'm Jeff, 30 yo, from Catalonia, Spain.
First of all, I would like to apologize for my bad english, fruit from the poor education level of my country. (I learned it basically reading, not in school).
I decided to register onto this forum because I'm really concerned about the coming future and I believe in "be prepared". In Spain, there is a false democracy like in a banana republic. The government is a tyrant that cut rights day after day. Having guns is really difficult and expensive, for example, to have one handgun, you have to enter obligatory in a sporting shooting club ($$$) and also you have to demonstrate sportive activity if you want to keep your license and your handgun. (Handguns that you only can use on the shooting club firing range. Carrying it on your body and defending your house/family with it it's prohibited). To have rifles you have to obtain another license ("hunter's" license). All "war calibers" (like .223 , .308, 7.62x39, etc...) are prohibited for civilian semiautomatic rifles... Why follow? You can imagine the level of freedom we have here...
And the huge majority of the people are sleeping sheeps that expects that the problems will be solved by the governments, and never will occur anything so bad, "not to me". They have enough with their couch, the bar and TV trash programs. 0% civil society fighting for our rights. Just the society that any dirty government/ tyrant would love.
So in this real scenario, there no exists any survival and preparedness forum or web page and I searched out there...
I want to learn things from you, free people of the USA, although many won't be applicable to my country.
Count on me also if you want to know more things about my sinking country.

    Sincerely yours,

    Jeff

Hello Jeff, and welcome to the forum, I’m a foreigner myself so get what you mean about some things not being applicable. Over here in the U.K we also have very repressive firearms/self defence laws. (Personally I think that’s why people over here are much more ‘in denial’ about what is coming than our cousins in America). There’s a lot more to prepping than guns though and much of it is the same the world over.

It seems that freedom is being challenged in every country. Welcome Jeff. Perhaps we can learn from you also.

Thanks for joining the site. Please feel free to post often (that goes for anyone who isn't in the U.S.) Your perspective on different things could be very helpful. And if you have questions just ask, we have many nice people here who want to help.
Man created shotguns because God created cats.

Man, those Muslims sure are worried about what they eat. I went over there and all I heard was Alohaaaaa Snack-bar.

Thank you for your warm welcome!

To Triple-sod: I'm nowadays buying things to UK because there are cheaper than in Spain and I don't have to pay any custom taxes (all things bought in Europe are duty free). Do you recommend me any online shop from UK related to survivalism? I also bought some survival books in amazon.uk at good price and shipping free.

            Thanks to all again!

And remember...Freedom is just another word for "nothing left to lose".

Thanks for the welcome, I won't forget that phrase!

                  To Triple-sod:

Well, I think that anything you buy "on europe to europe" is duty free. For example, frenchs come to spain to buy cigarettes and food because they are cheaper in spain. And I buy in UK or germany because the prices of almost everything (even including shipping costs) are lower than in spain... BTW, yesterday I ordered four books about survival skills in amazon.uk. That kind of books are almost always "FREE Super Saver Delivery" and when the order costs more than 25 GBP, the shipping costs are free.
I note down the two webpages you told me. Thank you for that!
