No one asked you to "disclose" any information about your self.Originally posted by mozambique505 View PostFound this site while reading survival blog. I really like it. Hey I'm new to computers, and it really feels weird disclosing any information about my self. So for now just saying hi.
QUITE THE CONTRARY- we would prefer people used their brains and maintained a good sense of Opsec when posting here.
The "introduce yourself" board isn't for people to tell their life stories and list their SS#'s. It's for popping in and saying something simple like "Hello from Texas." NOT "Hello from Jim Smith, 123 Main Street in Rodeo, TX 762187"
Again, no one asked you to "disclose" any information about yourself. We believe in confidentiality here and promote it. It's always my hope that people are smart enough to use good Opsec ANYWHERE on the net....

Nothing to be sorry about, just wanted to make sure you knew that no one expected anyone to "disclose" any information about themselves. Your first post kinda had this tone like you had to give a DNA sample before joining. I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea!!!
That's NOT how we work here.
We have never said "no registrations from anonymous email addresses (hotmail, etc.)" as a lot of sites do.
I HOPE that people come here and use good opsec, use an anon email address ANYWHERE they go on the web and in general use common sense.
This is actually I good topic we should start a thread about and stick on this forum, as general Opsec stuff seems to be overlooked sometimes with new folks.
Again, welcome to the forums. My main concern was that someone would read your first post and read the "it feels really weird disclosing any information about my self" and ASSUME that meant we had some rigid registration process or otherwise asked for personal information. NEITHER IS THE CASE!!
