  • Hello from Texas

I have found this particular website on YouTube while searching for information relating to mylar bags.

We are a conservative Christian family living the "unusual according to today's standards" 30 year married life on a few acres while attempting to gather income from today's city life. I am 64 and disabled. My husband is still working at 59. This year I called to make an appointment to take a steer and a goat to the packing house. After finding out the escalated price of slaughter, I promptly purchased, albeit expensive according to my budget, a meat grinder, and my son and I cut our first goat's throat(please pardon the sensitivity of this) to process for the freezer. The price of that was the beginning of my awakening. Bear in mind at my age, I come from a set of parents from the Great Depression. My father could and would make gaskets from old leather boots, etc. If the family didn't have it at home, we didn't need it. Long story short.......I realized after taking a long look at the economy and the world situation, I best get my happy self together and start to figure out long term storage, etc. because the handwriting is on the wall. Thank you for your teachings and God Bless
Hence, I am here to learn all I can. Please teach me. and I thank you for your time and patience.

Hello from Oklahoma. There's all kinds of folks here with all kinds of experience so maybe some one can help.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, or to join in on an on going conversation to add something.
A desire changes nothing, a decision changes some thing's, but determination changes everything.
