Hello from Seattle

Hello everyone! My background includes 30 years in law enforcement (Charleston, SC and the Seattle metro area) and as the director of security for the past four years at a large commercial, residential and retail development complex in Bellevue, WA. I first became painfully aware of my lack of preps in the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo in 1989. I was a brand new street cop and my idea of preps included one MRE and a Brita water filter pitcher. And then we had no power for 19 days, martial law and looting, and I learned the hard way how to better prepare. I am also a firearms instructor and regularly practice both pistol and rifle, at least monthly. I do my own car maintenance and have an inverter generator plus a backup generator ("two is one, one is none"). I'm happy to be here and learn even more about prepping, especially since I am leading some tabletop exercises that are earthquake-related.
