Regarding meeting/greeting - Somewhere in OKC? I am sure that we can work something out. As long as we all wear masks and only meet at night... j/k
Or we could do Tulsa. I am a little closer to Tulsa, but I think it would be a drive for Matt.
    We should definitely do something.

I'd do a meet up. The wife said she would try it again..the last one was wierd for her. She now knows that "preppers" come from all walks of life..

We'd have to hammer out some dates.

I don't know if we would be able to, basically because my hubby works 6 days a week, and he's not really the mingling type. I don't know how I could convince him to go to a meet and greet.

A Meet/Greet could be somewhere very public. Doesn't have to be in a dark alley w/ masks... (sigh - I SO wanted to be part of a secret elite okie group...) You could arrange to go shopping and "drag" your husband along. YOu walk by wherever we are meeting (food court @ mall, park, etc..). Decide if you want to stop or not. If you do, cool. If not, now you know what we look like and can decide if you want to talk him into it later. If we look like serial killers, pass (and tell us later so we can work on that).
As far as dates - would everyone agree that Spring (Apr/May) is best? And around what area is best? Matt don't you live west of OKC? HOw far to Tulsa? I am looking at a Spring trip to hike out that way anyways.
            THoughts everyone?

SEOG, I like it!! That would be great! LOL!

Tulsa for us is over an hour's drive. Usually if we do any shopping, we go to Joplin or Springfield, MO. Occasionally we go to Arkansas. It would be great if we could work something out. I still have to work on getting my hubby to go along with the preps. I feel like I have such a long way to go, but I am trying.

Well it looks like we are pretty far apart and I may be the farthest north..NE of Stillwater. I am just slightly closer to Tulsa than OKc at 51 Miles away, but like I said I have done this before and it's no big deal. We met at restaurants which were nice but so noisy that you missed some of the conversation or you were raising your voice to be heard.

Can you imagine shouting OPSEC issues in a near scream in a crowded restaurant?

SEOG...lol, that's cool. Of course me and elite have never even been used in the same sentence :p

I'm in for wherever. T town is as good as any just a quick clip up the turnpike. I don't want to be in a place where we can't chat but I agree with the public thing. I dunno about the serial killer thing my wife says I intimidate people with the way I look and look at folks. I dunno I aint tryin to, nature of the beast I guess from to seeing to many things in my careers so don't be afraid of little ole me LOL I'm just ugly, and I been know to kill me a bowl or 2 of fruity peebles:) I will see if the wife will come, I dunno, that may take some talking.
@ Lacy I'm not much of a social type neither so tell ole hubby no strings, he ain't happy just bail, right guys we dont wanna mess anyones relationship up, my feelings dont get hurt any.
@ Cimmaron if you have done this succesfully would you make a suggestion for a place this spring? My prior meets have been less than impressive.

What I would like to accomplish from this is to see if we are compatiable to a point where maybe we could do a weekend at a place and learn a few things like basic skills from each other and maybe spend some good fun quality time with family at maybe a lake or river. No GI Joe Ranger Rick Bravo Sierra running around in the woods with battle rattle just maybe laid back fire startin, fishing, cookin and some camping. Maybe some informal classes on just a few subjects and minor disccusions on preps without divulging world secrets or our own opsec. If we get real comfortable then we could progress from there. What is it you all want from the meet and greet?

SEOG ok but I wanna cool handshake or t-shirt or something, you all crack me up:)

Matt, Matt, Matt...what's funny is that my hubby is the same way with the "look" about him. He isn't a big guy, but for some reason he intimidates people. Even animals have a reaction to him. A bit of a dark side, I guess. I can put him in his place real quick though...LOLOL!

And Fruity Pebbles are my favorite!

I am also still trying to figure out a way to convince him about prepping. I want him to back me up because he is pretty knowledgeable about weapons, hunting, fishing, camping, fixing things, etc. He also has some EMT training. I know he can handle emergencies. I don't know what I would do without him.

If you guys could set it up somewhere around Springfield, MO, I would probably show up and maybe bring two or three others with me. It's 3.5 hours away from me here, and my sister and father live near there. It would be good to find out what kind of whacko's I'm talking to here, and let you see what kind of whacko's you're dealing with too....<G> (I don't know about the handshake and t-shirt thing though. I was thinking something more along the lines of the salute from Third Rock from the Sun or something? :-)

Okay, a secret handshake will have to be a must. I mean, how cool would that be? I've always wanted to have a secret handshake...

Well, it seems that we could meet anywhere in OK. I know that I plan on going out west to see Matt, we could do 2 meets. And maybe we can plan something NW of Tulsa? That might allow Lacey and others to come.

Thoughts? Either way - if there is an outlet mall then it could be a prime location for initial meeting. A lot of people and still enough privacy to walk into a parking lot and practice handshakes. Plus, it would be SO much easier to get the wife to come. :)

I think I could get my hubby to go to the Gun Show, and if I see any SEOG's there, I will give a thumbs up.
