  • Hi guys (from Europe)!

My nick betrays the exact position.
I'm excited to find a forum of truly likeminded people. No way to find that here. This is not the only matter in which I prefer contact with soberminded Americans. Also e.g. spiritual matters. One could say, I ought to move over there, but for me its too late.
First of all, no way I'm giving my fingerprints just to cross into your nation now.
Secondly, I believe that SHTF first at the States, then later here in Europe.
Thirdly, hardly any money right now.

That's also what kept me from being well prepared already. I just had to quit and go back to University at 29 to finish what I had previously started. Not even to make a career with it, because I do believe in SHTF within few years. Just think I owe it to myself to complete that.

Even with less prepared gear and stuff, finally I'm gonna do that same thing when the time comes:
Finishing what I had previously started, which is then ...
    SURVIVING!

Welcome aboard. Interesting America first, seems as though SHTF already in several European places. I love Austria as a matter of fact 2 of my pistols are from Austria. LOL
Work towards your goal as you can. Small steps add up real quick. Make plans to stay put or move quickly if needed. Plan several routes for when you go. Preparing isn't always buying it's a thought process and add physical training as well.

VA, good to have you join the group. As you can see we are small but growing. Unsure if that's a good thing or not. I am particularly glad to see you here as I would enjoy learning how things are progressing along or to be exact, eroding in your neck of the woods so to speak. I am sure that we (Americans) will face some some disastrous times, unlike anything we've ever seen in our lifetimes, in the very near future. I also beleive that it will not be isolated to just the US. I am glad to see that you have your eyes open but at the same time it just solidifies what I already knew to be true, the rest of the world is just as worried as we are. With the Internet being what the internet is, we have information at our immediate disposal but this is a double edged sword of course. You have loads of data but you find yourself sifting through what you think to be valid and what is mere hogwash, or worse yet, carefully placed propaganda. Someone sent me an email today with I thought was very interesting....I have copied it for your viewing pleasure.

I don’t spend my fall weekends tramping around the woods in pursuit of a buck any more, but a lot of my friends and neighbors do.

This blogger adds up all the hunters in just a handful of states, and comes to a striking conclusion: America’s OTHER Largest Army in the World
The state of Wisconsin has gone an entire deer hunting season without someone getting killed. That’s great. There were over 600,000 hunters.

Allow me to restate that number. Over the last two months, the eighth largest army in the world – more men under arms than Iran; more than France and Germany combined – deployed to the woods of a single American state to help keep the deer menace at bay .

But that pales in comparison to the 750,000 who are in the woods of Pennsylvania this week. Michigan’s 700,000 hunters have now returned home. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia , and it is literally the case that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world .

His point? America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting — it’s not just a way to fill the freezer. It’s a matter of national security.

      ************************************************** ************************************
And they didn't even mention Texas, which I am sure would double the states listed already. I am truly thankful for living in a country that still allows the right to keep and bare arms. Our Forefathers had it figiured out...they knew that eventually the government would again become out of control. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

p.s. I too like the Austrian brand!

Ha, I guess that's the friend you both talk about. I had training on that during my year as officer candidate at the Austrian army. Otherwise its pretty hard to get one. Gun laws are extremely restrictive here and they pass more and more laws of that kind. I'm glad you can get them.
A few years ago people had to turn in a common type of shotguns to the police. It was said that these would just be destroyed afterwards. I know about one guy who cut his into pieces himself before turning it in. He got admonished for it and rumor has it that those shotguns weren't destroyed at all, but given to the army's special forces (Jagdkommando).
I guess I don't have a real problem with them getting the equipment, just with the govt lying through their teeth as usual.
You're right about the SECOND army. Everyone who was in the military knows that a bunch of hunters are completely no match for say a military platoon, but taking so many people out bit by bit is faaar too extensive a task, as it is now. Also its too brutish and messy. Soldiers of the same country wouldn't do it for long. I even doubt that foreign troops could really be kept at hunting down thousands of civilians who just want to keep their freedom.
So the way to go should still be to convince everyone that its totally evil to own a gun, that everyone who owns a gun is a dangerous right-wing-extremist and potential domestic terrorist or whatever propagandists think up.
Yeah, your constitution is what kept your freedom so far. We don't even have such a thing. We do have a lawcollection called "constitution" but its a joke. Everyone can change it all the time with a two thirds majority, as opposed to the 50% required to normal laws.

        Anyway, thanks for the welcomes!
