Walking thru the Hom Deepot over the weekend and I saw a display rack with different size and thickness Lexan plastic sheets. Now I being in the "home improvement " mindset I noted that the thickness ranged from About 1/32 to 1/4 in thick. On the same display there was offered a cutter and a selection of clear silicone sealer that you use when it is laid over the outside exposed glass of the home, retreat, BOL.......ect,ect. I know that this is not the original sales intent of the HD but I thought that this might be some good info to pass on......It has been noted in the past that lexan is highly impact resistant and when exposed to UV rays will degrade over time, that is not much of a problem just move over a couple of isles and pick up the a kit of the UV, heat ,glass tinting film and apply.

I would try shooting it first before trusting it. I have had varied results with lexan and plexiglass. It is very impact resistant stuff which you will need to have an escape plan in case of fires etc. because you will not just throw a chair thru it and get out and smaller weaker folks will have no luck escaping. There are some companies that sell lamination sheeting to put on your windows yourself. It's a good idea though being at a home depot where it's real accessible. Also lexan scratches real easy and constant pounding of wind blowing dirt and debris will take it's toll of it's on the outside. The NASCAR guys also use some kind of layered removable stuff too to combat that. I don't watch it but saw a special on it one time so others who do may be able to chime in on that with greater detail. I agree,my ideer was more thrown objects and less on the bullet end. I have seen the Storm Safe plastic laminate and they offer even explosive proof styles but that stuff is expensive!!! PS.. write up a blog!!! I can barlee type my name on a confuser!!

The thrown stuff could be bad I'd be more inclined to look at it for high wind and tornando thrown objects than people thrown around here. That would help sell it to the pursestrings too.Knowledge is Power, Practiced Knowledge is Strength, Tested Knowledge is Confidence

I have been meaning to get back on this but,...... On the issue that was brought out about lexan scraching, Yep it does ,but if every once and a while polish the lexan cover with Mirror Glaze # 10 and # 17 this stuff really works. One is a plastic polish and the other is a cleaner. I have used these products for the matainence on motorcycle windshields for years and these products have kept even !5 year old windscreens opticaly correct and clear.
