  • no water

the rain has stopped in our area...
creeks our dry. ponds are drying up. an associate in our county has 2 ponds... both are empty.

last night, before church, our water pressure dropped. we'd just finished our showers...
it has happened before... both times, I had "taken out part of the plumbing."
so we were desperately looking for ponds of water caused by a ruptured incoming pipe...
    no self made leaks.

we headed to church and no water at all at the church. the phones were lighting up.
"no water at our house. what about yours?"
folks were gathering but they couldn't flush the commodes.
no one knew why the water wasn't flowing.

we raced home to the condo, where there is a well. and filled two containers with about 100 gallons of water for the water closets.

    ladies looked relieved..

soon, word got to the church that the village had found the ruptured pipe and begun to repair the pipe.

but, it brought on a good topic of conversation. "what if... there is no water in the city pipes?"
the first answer was... well, we'd just go down to the creek or to tim's pond.
and the response was tim's pond is empty and the creek has been dry for over 2 months.

other people in the area have wells, but the water level is dropping.. if the drought continues and the farmers keep pumping..
    no mo' wawa.
    just something to consider.
we have a big tank, that we haven't filled. hmm.. what if there had been no electricity to run the wells.

I have been concerned about the same issues. Our local reservoir is gubment-controlled and they have taken the level down lower than it has been in 12-years. I stopped by the dam yesterday and the draining continues. Other, larger reservoirs in a 150-mile radius are down, but not the rate we have. The small creeks are still flowing, but low as well. Time to get off the couch and find alternatives.
