Has anyone here tried out one of the home freeze dryers yet? Next step up in preps from dehydrators and canning ? Any thoughts pro or con ? Group purchase maybe ?
There's guys on another forum I'm on who have them.
Iirc 3-5k is price....I've joked with wife unit about it.
From what I've read they aren't maintenance free..per say..and there's tricks to making them more efficient.(pre freezing ).sorry not much help last that man.
To reiterate what Protus said, I looked into the one that is pimped on the Glen Beck radio program. Waaayyyyyyy outa my price range. They also dont seem very large... meaning only small potions made at a time, read time consuming. I stopped "researching" when I got sticker shock. Ill continue to buy #10 cans of freeze dried food stuff
Ron Paul was pushing a home freeze dryer on the radio. I checked the price, and the add-ons to make this work as well as what you get from Mountain House, and decided I could stock up enough for us for a long time for the price. Anyway, I don't need anything else to take up counter space!
