I don't know how to tie this in so many previous fence threads. So please , sorry for the new thread. If a mod can put this in the right place great. Source of stuff for fencing. Local road comm. A case of beer might get you a bunch of cable , guard rail old posts. They have to replace as needed and can not reuse old. they could give you the ok to do so. Railway ties old one are sold for pennies on dollar. These will stop a car. Now some applications .
1. 8x8 post from rail or roadways-use as fence poles or plant on a 45% lean
toward and behind fence with about 2 ft above ground , stagger depth from fence. this will stop any car truck.
2. old cable run through these post as fence posts , cable size from 1/4 to 5/8 can come from behind guard rails. Elec. co. At a 2 and 4 foot height will stop a track vehicle.
3. cyclone fence from old gravel pit or job site can be had for asking. Use posts of heavy steel or above wood posts. Don't use pipe or poles at top and bottom . Use wire/cable this allows the fence to flex and catch . pipe tubes will break if a tree falls on them or a car crashs, cable and wire give but come back when you remove tree etc.
4. Any kind of recycled steel barb wire concertina wire stretched and fastened to pole well will wrap itself around wheels tracks etc. May not stop but will slow down and enough will jam drive sprockets .
5.Gates, use well casing for posts cement in , weld farm hinges to poles and gate use pipe gate, not the flat molded steel one., don't trust just the bolt on clamps weld them. Weld pc,s of angle on steel posts that allow the gate to only swing out, put these on both sides and make them large enough to catch the open pipe area of gate with one leg of the angle, if someone crash's into it. this will bend and ruin the gate but it will stay put. Install this on both sides, one side won't keep the gate in place. Use good farm gates from pipe welded together .
6. Keep in mind i'm not talking 4 ' cedar posts here . Steel or treated 8x8 s . enough for now over load. Lots of material from all your local train, plane, road, DPW and other places
