I'm getting concerned about our lack of protein should things "go south"
is this source of protein somewhat nearby? oops that may be a security breech!
question withdrawn! it would sure be nice to have that kind of food source nearby.
wherever you went...
congrats...
I thought ponds/lakes would have more of them little uns that those longuns!

The big one is the biggest one we've ever pulled out of that pond in 20 some years. Previous large ones from that pond were probably 1/4 smaller in size. It was huge and even with my not so perfect filleting skills, it became two huge fillets. The pic equated to several meals for us, the heads and guts dug into the garden and the remainders fed to the dogs.
If we pulled that much regularly, it probably wouldn't last long though. Still, we were pulling them out immediately from knowing the best time of day for that spot and knowing the sweet spots there.www.homesteadingandsurvival.com

Iirc large mouths grow about on average 9-10 inches per year females being larger. Sun fish aka bream...bluegills etc...are fast multipliers.
put a fish feeder out there...and enjoy easy pickings.
There's bigger ones there....you just gotta fish better....you know 20 k on a bass boat....300 on one rod....etc LOL :p
Side note.
Down here the state /game commission will stock ponds...if I remember right.Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!
