    folks,
    getcha some blueberries...
we've got a couple of different varieties... some a little bigger, some a little smaller.
we give them a little water and keep the big weeds out...

    imagine the shtf...
and you are digging out your oatmeat... quick oats... regular oats...
and you are tired of oatmeal... then blueberry season comes around...
    blueberries in the oatmeal..

cheap to plant... don't take a lot of space... ours are in full sun... I don't know what is best.. but full sun working for us.
they get some pinestraw a couple of times a year to help keep the weeds down.

a get a few every time I walk by this time of year.

we need to plant a few more!!

Yeah, it takes a few years for blueberries to produce much. I planted a couple in my yard two years ago and they still are pretty small. Only get about a couple of dozen berries off each this year but they're growing pretty fast. In a couple more years, they'll produce enough to make them worth while. And they're pretty inexpensive. The trick is to get varieties that are native to your area. Different varieties grow in south Georgia than do middle Georgia than do in the mountains here.

Another thing is to get multiple varieties. They produce more fruit if they can cross-pollinate with other varieties.

I have a couple varieties in plastic containers - trying to decide where to plant them in my yard. Same with the raspberries.

The pear and apple trees are doing good that were planted this year.

We have 9 bushes but they are small. Our neighbor at the BOL has 6 but they are huge. About a month ago she gave us a pound of them, then while we were there last week she gave us a bag full weighing 3 and 1/2 lbs.

Probably the heat and them just looking dead. Ours look like that right now also.
