snake! and need for sanake boots.

I don't like snakes.

trying to get out of the city and looking at a lil' house in the country.
decided to walk part of the property line today...

grabbed 4 prong garden rake to help me move the vines, and undergrowth, spiderwebs that are so prevalent on this side of lot.
I was still in cleared area and suddenly found a big fat ole sname with these diamonds on the back of it.
rake was on shoulder it came donw instantly... I felt proud.. surprised snake would go to rattling after I put 4 sharp metal points all around him.

prongs are buried in the ground. over the top of and around snake but not "in" snake!!

I went back to get pistol in truck. (should have had it with me-- I know)
while I stepped away, snake snuck into edge of thing brush near an old shed..
he was running. he must have been scareder than I was... cause shooting 3x between the brush yielded no dead snake.
I found hole under old shed that I think he slithered into.

anyhow, gonna get some of those "snake boots"

In the field, the first two rounds are snake shot...

Was canoing down the Neuse river when I was stationed there (years ago) and a snake dropped into the boat...started slithering towards me. 6 rounds into the bottom of the boat and it was toast (luckily it was an aluminum canoe LOL). HATE snakes!!!

When I was in Colorado, carried a .44. First 2 rounds were snake shot.

things ive learned about snakes..
1- knowledge - know whats bad and whats good.propper ID isnt just for shoot/no shoot but if by chance you are bitten.
2- common sense- snake in a corner...sure go grab it. in other words leave them alone..noneed to poke it with a spoon.
3- look....look again- knowing where your shoving your hands..feet...etc goes a long ways.


that said..
i have zero issues taking out one that i know is bad....if its in my ao.
other times(hiking etc) i just give then plenty of room. almost stepped on a pigmy rattler the other day.
imho them and juvenile moc's are the ones to worry about more than others.

but i feel this way cuz ive grown up in snakeville alll my life.

where can I get some of that "nuke it" stuff/equipment?
how high did I jump? actually, I froze for a few seconds, but don't tell anyone..
first two rounds is good advice... I had no thoughts for snakes.
drone strike!! yeah... I like that... maybe have it carry some of temps "nukeit"
knowledge... yep.. I've goofed there... bad... killed a big ole king snake a year or so ago.
give em room? you better believe it.. while I'm calling in the drone attack to nuke it!

how do you best kill this critter?
it was near and I think it slithered under an old metal shed... shed is probably a 10 by 16.
shed is in poor shape... think one step above the sears and roebuck 259 package that comes with a million screws.
it is heavily overgrown on all side. but not big trees. 5 -8 ft growth... doors are jammed shut with debris/dirt.

I've got 2 thoughts in mind...
1. stick a water hose into hole and pour gasoline.. than add spark. hire two thugs from Chicago to be on standby to blast anything that tries to escape. or
2. wrap a chain/rope around building and pull it over with truck or tractor. and have the same two thugs on stand by

actually in this neck of the woods.. if I offered beverages and a chance to "shoot something" folks would pay to be on hand!

so... how do you get rid of snakes under a storage shed? oh yeah... I've got to check again, but there may be a concrete pad under that shed?

If its a d back....take away the food source ....or find it...that's why its there. Prolly mice...rabbits near by. Just pour gas in the hole and light it :p LOL I'm joking of course
