The axe isn't typically something we think of as modern or revolutionary, but some guys at Vipukirves have reinvented the lumberjack's tool.

The TIRE is what really speeds things along... I use the Gerber splitting axes and I have had minimal trouble splitting most wood, with only knotty maple and oak as the tough ones... Not worth the price for me, but for those needing their first splitting axe, it might be a good investment...
