Ok so I have been learning all I can about the various ways of doing permaculture for a little while now and I heard about this guy Mark Shepard and I recently came across a podcast with him.

Watch the videos down at the bottom of the page too.

He has a book out about Agroforestry and silvopasture.

He is a part of this: http://wppresearch.org/

He raises more than one crop on the same acre: Nuts, Various Fruits, Cattle, Pork, Turkey, Annual crops...He rotates the livestock through the trees this deposits fertilizer and helps with pest control (he explains this in one of the videos).

Interesting. I've been trying to figure out a way to get apple and pear trees integrated into my cattle pasture.

electric fence around your trees until they get big enough then let the livestock graze in between the trees.

I would also look into keyline design.
