A truck that removed excrement and hauled it away.
    Stinky job!

      Karen,
      I'm impressed.
      HUGE CONGRATS!
my elderly associate when newly married had no sewer pipes. they had a facility in the backyard.. excrement (as Karen said)
went into a large container under the seat. (not a hole in the ground.
once a week the honey wagon would come by and stop at each house.
the container would be carried to the street and dumped into the honey wagon tank.
folks would close their windows on the day the honey wagon came down their street.
may my septic system last forever.
may your sewer pipes, pump stations, settleing ponds, treatment facilities last forever.

And may I always have multiple useful skills so as not to be demoted to "honey wagon driver" in the PAW!

          lol

years ago, i went to work at a place with 5-7 others for several years.
          dan was the sharpest dresser..
and dan was the best salesman in the office. and one of the best in the region.
dan kept a new shovel propped up in the corner opposite his desk... we never talked about the shovel.
finally one day, I picked up the shovel and headed out the door saying, "i'll put the shovel in your truck for you."
he quickly, in a nice but firm way told me to put the shovel back.
I put the shovel back, but asked what the story was about the shovel.

dan had worked on the septic pump out truck for a couple of years.
right down the road from his office was a "juke joint" that was well known for several counties.
they had to pump out the juke joint's tank every week.
he gave a description of the results..
he advised that no matter how careful he tried to stay clean, you couldn't.. and that he stunk. stunk all day.
he couldn't eat in any restaurant at lunch... he and his coworkers on the stuff truck all stunk too bad!

so, he put the shovel in the corner of his office.
on tough days, when he thought he might quit, he would look at his shovel.
if his boss gave him a hard time, he would look at his shovel and remember..
he wore nice clothes because he could remember.

thanks lowdown. I had forgotten that story.

honey wagon? that one is easy; I used to see them often in the rural area I worked. Yes, they are excrement haulers, pumping out septic 'holding tanks' and it is a growth industry more and more urban folks move to the (so-called) country and cant put in a proper leach field.

I used to drive one of those trucks occasionally when I was a water and wastewater operator in Florida... That job is clean compared to pulling a pump in a lift station.... UUUghhh!
