  • have you pulled the plug? for a test?

i love electricity and what it allows us to do!

i've been without it for a few days from bad weather.

we need to have a "pull the plug" weekend as a test, but i sure like the conveniences!!
have you done it? what did you really miss first?
i know a couple of you guys have solar set ups and are sitting there grinning and chuckling at
this post.. losing electricity isn't a threat for you!

here's what i think we should do as a test.
go to the breaker box and flip everything off, except for the freezer and refrigerator. agree with the wife that we won't open the door to either, putting a piece of duct tape over the door, as a reminder.... shutting off the ice source!!

i'm guessing we would first miss
no computer, no air conditioning, no ceiling fans.
    the hot shower.
i'd head outside to work, come back in pretty grungy. we have city water, so i'd have water in the shower, but wouldn't be hot!
oh yeah... city water gets in the tank from a well...

if you've tried this, tell us what you missed.
    and/or how you solved it.
if you haven't tried it, tell us what you think you'd miss, and how you would solve the
    situation.

Mother Nature pulls it enough round here lol
Been a week without. Missed some things but honestly I like the quiet.

Air conditioning for the family first and foremost. People way back when were acclimated, people just aren't now a days. Running water for sure. Even getting water out of the cistern becomes a chore. (Makes you think gravity fed)Think about waste management as well. I'm not a huge follower of the man but don't have a problem with him either, but Rawles wrote 'the best lists are made by candlelight.' He's 100% correct.

yip lived near 14 days with out in one stretch. you get used to no ac after a bit and cold showers. imho its just like camping except i can sit on my couch lmao.
sides that i used to routinely live 8-10 days off grid while hunting in canada.
running h20 is the bigger miss there. no showers just a bucket of warm h20....when its 14f out can be a shrivel factor of 10 lol
