  • Well/Septic/Water Questions

    Folks,

I am very new to this whole well business. I had one once in a house I lived in but never paid attention to it, I was 15 and only drank natty light and Milwaukee's best :)
I am going to post a few pics of my setup and would like some education if necessary. I dont want to sound naive but I dont know crap about what I have here.
I know that I have springs all over the property. There is a runoff pipe from the well that drains into a trench that ultimately flows to a creek that feeds a neighbors pond. I know how to purify if ever grid down, thats not the issue.

I am wanting some info on:

What it is I have and any pointers or tidbits on my setup?
Can my water/ septic setup be ran off of solar as a combo? If so, what type of equipment is necessary just for this system?
In the one pic with the old pump and the overflow pipe, how do check to see if the old well pump works? Is there a way to make it run strictly to a garden and bypass the house all together?

Apologize for sounding like a city boy that just moved to the boondocks but I seriously dont know what I have............. other than some ice cold great tasting water!

    Thanks

    WO

You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

is it a free flowing well?? what feeds the house now, this one well head? to answer the solar question-yes you can cause it'll charge more than you use usually using a small panel and 2 batteries. my dad has his set up that way. you cant water the yard with it cause it would drain it to much. yes you can cut in a bypass set up to just do the yard and turn off the house with twist of two valves.

SP1 has some decent stuff on this subject. I quit listening to him about the time I found out I was evil and the problem but the man is very smart and dedicated. here is one video that might help and I think he might even sell this stuff for a living

his friend Engineer775 is also very very smart

these are the 2 guys channels

I also used to have a runoff from the tub to the garden in one place. It's not to hard if you can access the plumbing. The only thing is in many places this is frowned upon by the establishment so one might hold that switch close to their chest.
