  • carrots and strawberries

sometimes you've just got to be proud of your bride.

i've had a little ailment and have been "inside" for several days.
    took a little walk today.

walking with bride and seeing things that i need to hurry up and work on.

then passing a big tree i notice some carrot plants.
i remember pulling carrots as a kid.

    when i reached down i pulled up a 5' and a 6' carrot. i didn't plant them.
my bride did last year, and i've done nothing to push them along.
i told her that we've got to do this again. and around some other trees!!

next to the carrots were some small vines/leaves. i'd seen this type before, but couldn't recall their name.
Strawberries are coming back. my bride planted them last year. we didn't get any produce, but they are coming back strong. amazing. we have been in bad drought.

big grin. good wife. she's on track. we need to expand the carrots and strawberries!!
looks like they can take care of themselves!! bride did tell me she covered the strawberries with pine straw last year!

    i invite any carrot instructions/suggestions/advice
    and strawberries too!

Carrots just need loose soil and they will do well with decent water. Have patience on strawberries sometimes it takes a year or two and sometimes they go straight to fruit, hard to tell. I cover my strawberry plants with leaves in the winter.
The trees here like oaks secret a poison and nothing grow near them. i get a kick out of the homeowners spending countless dollars trying to grow grass under them

        matt,
        loose soil -- yes.
i went back and rev'd with wife.
she reminded me that i had hauled some dirt out of the woods to
this location- around base of pine tree.
the orignal intention was for flowers. and to build up where there had been some
        erosion.
instead of flowers she planted the carrots and strawberries.
        loose soil.
