  • Pressure Canner Deal I got

Got me a Presto Pressure canner, never been used, only missing a couple of parts (washer and nut). $15

Thanks to my wife!! She found it on our annual Spoon River Scenic Drive walk about.

There are parts everywhere for those, I'm sure it won't be a problem to find them. Might want to check and replace the seal at the same time.

    Good find!
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

the local U of I extension office used to test them but not anymore....I will do a thorough inspection on all the seals before I use it...I may buy a new gauge just to be on the safe side...either way its a great deal. Now I can get me some of them tattler lids.

On another note my wife found a cast iron grain mill for $5...I believe it is a weston model...i bought one very similar off of ebay about a year or so ago...all the parts were there including the grain shield (i think i showed this in my grinding video)...Never guess what I paid...$5

From the same vendor I got some 81 MM containers for $2 each.

Sounds like a great find. Coworker told me yesterday that he found a canner at the Goodwill store for $20. Turns out he got an All American 15 qt. New those run $200 and up.

in areas transitioning from rural to urban folks the thrift shops are full of good prep finds. my husband forced me to stop buying every piece of cast iron cookwear i ran into, and made me stop when i got to canner #4. oh well, the preppers i swapped them to were quite pleased. my county ag extension dept still tests pressure cooker gauges to make sure they are accurate, God bless 'em.

Yeah mine used to but they have stopped that due to liability....I can mail my pressure gauge to Presto and they will test it for me...just the price of shipping

To add to this deal Walmart had jars on sale at my local store for $5 a case...Buy 'em cheap and stack 'em deep!!! I was able to get 4 cases.

I also found out that my local Farm supply store has the main rubber seal and the overpressure seal for my new canner. That saved me $0.51 plus the cost of shipping. I verified the part number was the correct one per Presto's website.
