  • pumkins?

    Hi folks,
This year in my little garden, my wife wanted to try some pumpkins. After hearing about pumpkin jerky, I thought why not? I started the seeds she wanted and they took off! I have 5 plants, but only two of them look like pumpkins. The other plants have what looks like large yellow squash. I have attached two pics, one of the pumpkin and one of the yellow things. Have any of you seen these before? The seeds came out of the same Burpee envelope. Also, should the large squash looking things be saying "feed me Seymour?

I've only grown a few pumpkins, once on purpose and once on accident cause dad didnt clean up the jackolantern very well, but they look as they are ok but it takes alot of time for them to form so be patient. If you are getting alot of rain make sure and turn them a little if the soil isnt sandy so they dont rot. Other than that I dont know much else to tell ya

Hard to tell from the picture but the yellow looks like crooked neck squash. Pumpkin are in the squash family. We also have grown pumpkins by accident, seeds in the compost pile.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

I trick I learned a long time ago was to safe your tuna fish cans. You can wash them out really well and use them to set your developing pumpkins and watermelons on to get them up off the ground.

That looks like squash to me too.

Yes, I suppose they are squash. I'm growing Crook-neck in another place in the yard, but these are much larger. My wife is fearful of eating them. Compost. Thanks for the look.
