in a little under an hour! I'm slow, but getting faster. We have done a couple of new things that we think work better for us, than the way DH's uncle showed us.
He bonked 'em on the head with a hammer, and I hated that. They squealed and it just bothered me. Now we put them under a rake handle, stand on both sides and break the neck by pulling up sharply. I have also decided it is quicker and easier to cut of the head immediately after, rather than waiting. I think they bleed out better.
DH is out of town for a week at a class on child abuse. I don't envy him, those are difficult classes. :(
When he gets back we have nine more to butcher and 18 chickens. Getting closer every day to not having to buy meat from the grocery store.
