Here are a couple pics of part of my recent tomato harvest.

    To this yesterday:

My wife just counted the tomatoes still on my table that I need to do something with. ... 140+

This is not counting all the ones already eaten and given away. All from 10 Celebrity plants and one Beef Master plant. Just goes to show that you don't need huge acreage to produce an abundance of nutritious food yourself.

Great . We just got three plants put out and are worried that they might still git frost nipped. I'm envious.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

How and what do you fertilize with?

I mix Azomite rock dust into the soil along with some Jersey greensand when preparing the beds. This ensures plenty of trace minerals and potassium. I also mix in plenty of Dr Earth Tomato Vegetable and Herb fertilizer
http://drearth.net/blog/products/organic-fertilizers/ which also contains mycorrhizae which is important to help the roots absorb more nutrients.

When transplanting the tomatoes into the bed I mix in some Fox Farm Tomato and Vegetable fertilizer http://foxfarmfertilizer.com/products_pom1.html
and water in well with fish emulsion/liquid seaweed mixture.

After about 4-5 weeks I usually side dress the plants with one of the above fertilizers and will also every 3 or 4 weeks foliar feed with the fish emulsion/sea weed mixture.
          That's about it.

            Looking Goood!

What variety of tomatoes are you growing? I'm growing cherokee purple.

This year I amended my soil with perolite and compose. I feeding with fish emulsion and Miracle Grow tomato food. I now have lots of green tomatoes, however, they have grown so tall they're bending over despite being staked and caged. When I tried to straighten them one of the stems broke, so I'm leaving them partially on the ground. Alas, we'll see how they come out.

I am mainly growing Celebrity tomatoes this year. They have always done real well for me here. The one thing I don't like about them is they tend to crack near the stem. They are determinate so they do well in the cages. I also have one Beef Master that has grown over a 6 foot cage and then back down to the ground and now is running along the ground. I planted it back in December. It is an indeterminate variety so it will keep on going and producing until something kills it. The determinate varieties pretty much produce one main flush of tomatoes and then they are done.

I also usually grow a couple cherry tomatoes but this year I planted a Juliet plant. That thing is really popping out tomatoes like crazy. It is a grape variety but they are very large for grape tomatoes.
