  • My new favorite tool, the pick axe!

Yesterday I finally purchased a pick axe to make my gardening projects that include digging, a little less labor intensive. We have so much clay in our yard that I literally cannot dig more than 2 inches down before it starts to feel like concrete. Well today I was moving my rhubarb and tried out the new pick axe. Wow, it works great! It cut through the clay like butter. Honestly, I do not know why I did not purchase one years ago. I was able to dig large deep holes so that I could fill it back in with good garden soil so that the rhubarb roots have some place to go. Now I just need to get some bottom less barrels go around them so that the stalks will grow up nice an tall.

Something that has already been said here many times, is that it's really imporant to make sure you have the right tools for the right job. Because if TSHTF it will really make our lives easier.

Its the best way to bust that clay!

Down here, its a must to have one in your lawnarsenal. I swore as a teen with a landscaping company that I could build railroads from all of the clay I busted with mine.
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

Despite being in relative good shape due to working our regularly, I am still feeling it a little in my back today. LOL, maybe by summer's end I will have my pick axe muscles in good shape and won't even feel it by then.
