  • Rain finally!

    Finally got some significant rain here in OK today. My gauge is showing a little over 2 inches right now with more to come throughout the day. We're showing a flash flood warning until this afternoon and hopefully everyone is making out okay.

    I'm not complaining in the least, we need the rain bad. And hopefully it keeps it up (at a slightly reduced pace lol) for the remainder of the spring and summer. One can wish...

    Everyone else doing okay out in this neck of the woods?

      Too bad I couldn't send you some of our precipitation, we have had a lot of it recently. i would be happy to trade some rain/snow for some sunshine and warmer weather. :) Today was the first day in the last four that we got up and it was not snowing and then warming and turning to rain.

        Yes its been great. Not going to complain at all even with the little annoyances the rain makes. Here locally we have a lake that services 5-6 towns and quite a bit of the surrounding country side. Since the drought conditions in the middle of last year they had asked users to do a volunteer rationing of their water. January folks seen their water bills double due to a imposed rationing of sorts. In the middle of Feb. the word was that the lake was 15' below where is should of been and if there wasn't significant rain fall by April or May they would have to shut the pumps off or they might get damaged.

        Hopefully this will keep coming and get us through. Regardless, I have been storing water like a hoarder with every jug I can get, filled up from the tap.

              You all do o.k. in those tornadoes and storms from yesterday?

              We finally started getting rain again a few weeks back- Praise the Lord! Ponds are filling back up and it's a good start for the spring.

                Doing okay here. My basement is dry as a bone, which apparently is unusual for this area. My drainage ditch on the west side of my property got a little angry yesterday, but has settled down today. Saw a bunch of flooded creeks on my way back home yesterday but haven't looked at the local river yet.

                Rain meter topped out at 4.75 inches yesterday. But we have more forecasted today although nothing like yesterday for central OK.

                    We are getting heavy rains again today. We thought about trying to put out our garden ahead of the rain, but it looks like it would have been a wash out if we had.

                      We are in northwest Oklahoma and got 1.5 inches. Everything has really greened up, bulbs are blooming, and my husband has already mowed the lawn. It is March, right?

                        LOL, I had to go crank open the wallet and buy a lawn mower already.

                        I haven't been here for spring yet. This is unusual?

                          Welcome to OK. There is no "usual" when talking about the weather, except maybe when you're in the middle of summer or winter and then it's "Gonna be hot (cold) for a while".

                          Our usual is everybody else's unusual...maybe that's why those who decide to live here are unusual...:)

                            2" in north central OK. Good for the gardens but bad for the roads I've got to maintain....oh well...job security. LOL
