    Swordarm I agree I like the white oaks best also. Burr Oaks remind me of our deer hunting areas. But a nice combination is best. I love lots of nut trees and maples also but for a nice wind break nothing like an evergreen headge. Climber I agree the evergreens aren't much for firewood except for starting the fire kinda nice to use good dead pine branches start easy and burn hot...

      I don't like dealing with the pine tar, gets all over the gloves, saw, gas can, file, pants...... It does create a soot issue in the flue and can be a major chimney fire issue. I am not a pine fan! I have very few on the property. The cedars are GREAT for keeping bugs away, the cattle use them for rubs during flea, fly and tick season they are also great for freshening a room after being closed up. Again hate the tar and soot! BURN THE HONEY and BLACK LOCUST!!! hate the thorns!! Burns GREAT!!
      Do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do!
