  • Wow! What a difference a year makes....

This time last year, we had three dogs and a cat.

Now we have 32 rabbits, 24 chickens, 18 goats, 2 pigs, 2 dogs, and a cat!

New things I have done this year:
    milk goats
make cheese - just this week!
    store grains
    butcher rabbits
    gather eggs
    begin food storage
really, we have just totally changed our lives.

And all it took was one book (One Second After) and the realization that the day could come when I would have to tell my son there was nothing for him to eat - wow, what a ride!

It's been a year for me as well. I read both one second after and patriots this time last year. We do not currently have livestock as we reside in the burbs. we could have livestock at our BOL, (which we did not have a year ago), but we just are not there daily. we do have a garden there and even that is a challenge from the other side of my double life. I've managed to grow broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, beans cilantro ,onions, romaine lettuce, spinach and carrots. managed to get some food put up and started getting more canning supplies. got serveral bobs together, practiced shooting for hunting and in case a wild boar approaches, got a bow, learned a lot more about fruit trees, put in a well in the burbs (just in case we have to bug in), got a singer treadle to use for sewing or to rig the foot pedal to use for other purposes, got a hand grinder and tortilla press to practise making tortillas ( brad which requires nothing more than flour and water), and have gotten a loof hand tools, learned a lot about edible plants, got a hydraulic manual log splitter and more
