When DH got home yesterday afternoon, goats and chickens (from different enclosures were out), and the eggs were all gathered up in one pile - 17 eggs. DH thinks he scared them off - there were some teens in the area. I know lots of people don't consider a town of less than 400 a town, but I have got to get out of here! It is a good thing I am going to be home most of the time for the next month. DH asked if I would shoot them. I wouldn't unless I felt threatened, but they are gonna think I will. I'm going to buy locks and signs today. I am so MAD, I had a hard time sleeping last night. :mad:

Just imagine how "tresspassed" your property will be when times get REALLY bad... It sucks to have someone knowingly and willingly try to steal the fruits of your hard labor. It gets me boiling too when it happens to me...

Exactly! I have just over two more years of school, but there is a woman DH works w/ that may be interested in trading properties. Our two places for her home on 17 or 18 acres. The tax values are almost the same, just 650 difference. Please pray for us that if the opportunity opens up, we will be able to make good decisions. deer cameras are pretty cheap now , or you might have some hunter friends you can borrow one from .
posting signs around your borders is a great idea . they can not claim they didnt know .
i have a acre and i fenced it all by myself a few poles every month when i got 50 ft up i bought the fencing now the dogs run loose and NO one comes in our yard .
i also have a camera visible at the door with a sign readable from the fence that says photos are sent by wi-fi to another location .
i would also start building your paper trail if you have not done it yet .
call the cops make a report ,tell them you want a copy (if you dont the report will sometimes get lost )
call and ask for slow patrol past your house during the daylight hours .Comment

sorry to hear that , if it was me i would be calling asking to talk to the sheriff , its a elected position here i would want to know why no one responded and if he is saying i was on my own .

Actually one of them would be family - not really close, but family. Plus we would be able to get to my folks house completely by dirt roads.

I feel for you. I caught some lowlifes stealing out of my home and they got turned loose because the deputy sheriff was their cousin. they came back and burned down my house. SHOOT them next time. I hate thieves with a passion. GBComment

I think we have decided we are going to have to do the best we can, where we are, until I get out of school. When I finish this semester, I will be on the downhill side. Three semesters, plus my student teaching. Then it is so long little town! Farm, here we come!Comment
