  • Florida Whites

Hey you rabbit gurus. Came across a local breeder of Florida White rabbits. I like their smaller size; equals smaller cages and smaller appetites. Do any of you rabbit guys raise Florida Whites? Any input would be appreciated before I dive in and buy a breeding pair.

I'll add, I would love to know how they tolerate heat and humidity!

I gotta be honest here.... I've always been just slightly slightly freaked out by the looks of SOLID white rabbits with the pink eyes... And I've bonked probably over a thousand rabbits on the head over close to 20 years of raising them.

Something about SOLID white New Zealands with pink eyes screams LAB RAT! to me. Eeeeewwwww!

Here and there we sell some excess to feed stores, at festivals, etc. we always get comments on the nice coloring we have on ours. Usually a mix of white with some browns, black, sometimes red. Never had a problem selling or trading them. Often times we trade some for feed and that arrangement works out nicely.

Pretty much any rabbit that isn't a dwarf will be decent for meat. Don't get hung up on "pedigrees" unless you plan to show them.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"
