    Very interesting. I don't drink a lot of green tea or black tea but I would love to try this. I have never seen tea seeds sold before. I have made my own "tea" from strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and lemon balm, or peppermint. Not exactly great and will cause diarrhea if you drink too much :(

      I just wanted to let everyone who is interested know that last fall I placed an order for Green Tea plants and part of the order includes some Green Tea seeds. Well the seeds arrived the other day so I am getting ready to start them in the house. I am guessing the plants will arrive in early spring.

      The seeds are quite large, they are dark brown and about the size of a filbert nut.

      I will keep you all posted as my project progresses.

        I don't know for sure about tea leaves, but 1/4 lb of dried marijuana is about a gallon ziplock bag stuffed full. Leaves are leaves, right?

        *disclaimer: This was NOT my marijuana. He got probation.

          Here's a pic of my coffee trees. Been growing them for about 12 years now.

            Update on my tea plant project

            Here is a picture of my largest tea plants:
            {See the pictures posted in my next post, these did not turn out so well.}

            I apologize for the bad photography. I will try retaking them and see if I cannot do a better job.

            What I find interesting about the tea plants is that they take a very long time to germinate. I had one plant that germinated and is now almost 2 inches tall and it was about a month and a half before the second plant germinated. I now have 5 plants that have germinated, a couple have just gotten started. The other interesting thing is one of the newly germinated plants is a different variety than the others as it is bright green and the others started out as a brownish red.

                50BMG - have your coffee plants produced beans? I heard it takes years to get a crop.

                SCinPNW I noticed you used the seeds vs the plants. The plants sold for $12.00, which seems ok for a large plant. Keep us posted!

                  MB, I ordered plants that will be delivered ths spring, and they also sent me seeds. I received the seeds in January and have been working to get them to germinate, etc. It has been an interesting project. I will take pictures of the plants that I receive when I get them.
