I haven't seen it used in a household setting, but I can tell you that we've used them in a work setting. I wouldn't use them unless it would be in a spot that's easily inspectable. I say that because of rats. We've had them in our house before due to an open sewer vent, and I've had several plumbers tell me that the Studor Vents are open vents waiting to happen. They can be chewed through easier than iron pipe, or a slick PVC wall.

They are not allowed here where i work and they could solve a lot of remodel problems. The reason they are against many codes is that the flapper will eventually fail and will not seal propperly then you and your family will be breathing sewer gases. If they are placed so that you can repair them some areas will allow them but still, how sick will you be before you realize what has gone wrong.
