Got my new black berkey water purifier yesterday (two black filters). Someone said its takes a long time to fill bottom reservoir and boy were they right ! Put food colored water in top last night and this morning no color in bottom portion (all connections water tight by hand tightening), BUT not spigot. Had to put teflon tape on threads and use wrench to just get it past that hand tight point.

Always been a Katadyn fan. Berkfield wasn't a name that meant anything in the U.S. till Katadyn got so backed up in 1998.
Similar in principle to the Katadyn Drip filter though- ceramic elements in top container, gravity taking water through filters down to collection container in bottom.
I'm not sure the Berkfields have the silver part of the element as some of the Katadyns do. Anyone know?Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"
